PHILOSOPHY
Thank you for coming to My Play Room. We want to take this opportunity to thank you for inquiring about us. We hope that as you read our packages you will find the information engrossing.
Our philosophy is based on the facts that we believe every individual has the right to secure an education, which is essential to the preservation of democracy. It is the duty of our school to provide experiences necessarily needed for growth and learning. We will assist students in the development of their physical, intellectual, social and emotional potentials.
We believe that, happiness and tranquil atmosphere is what make students feel secured. The teacher must be a well-trained person who thoroughly understands the needs, interests, and knows about guidance, and development of learners. Teachers should seize every opportunity to increase their effectiveness.
The school program is built around the learner. We must recognize that each of our students is an absolute distinct and unique individual. To meet the difference in human development, our lessons are based upon different types of experiences. Our program is designed to meet the changing needs and interests of each student.
Habits of analytical thought and the ability to reach logical conclusions based on the proper premises are powers that must be developed for the sake of the individual and of society. We believe critical thinking skills are necessary to prepare students to function in a manner that enhances their own growth and development and promotes responsible citizenship.
My Play Room Crèche is not based on one theory, we do believe in several methods of education. Our program is a mixture of various theories. The scaffold of our program is based on Gardner’s Multiple Intelligences, where we believe that all children are not the same; some might have higher knowledge in some intelligence than others. Our goal is to help the child to reach his or her potential.
Here at My Play Room, we believe that children learn from free play as well as structure, we believe in respect, cultural difference, uniqueness of each individual child and family. We also believe in promoting self-esteem and confidence through developmentally appropriate activities. Since it is a Christian based centre, daily devotion will be part of the curriculum. We accept that each learns at self pace.
Our centre welcomes children of all regions and culture since there are multi-cultural activities in the programme.
COMMUNITY SERVICE
We believe that learning is comprehensive, it is not limited to learning alphabets or numbers but to provide holistic care, which includes health. Health plays a vital role in care for the whole child. We believe that when there is a deficiency in one domain it affects other areas as well, which can inhibit learning. We therefore take health seriously. We monitor a child’s immunization, record weight and height and we will have medical seminars twice a year for parents’ families to educate on the importance of good health. There will be free medical exams for those who need it.
CLASS SIZE AND RATIO
We have 8 – 10 kids in a crèche. The class has a lead and assistant teacher. Class placement is based on many factors. The teachers at My Play Room crèche will provide careful attention, affection, and stimulating things for your child to do. The children will experience happy health development in our care. We will keep you informed of your child’s progress, problems and co-operate with you in planning for the needs of the child/children.
EXPECTATIONS OF CHILDRENS
Children must learn independence, self-control and respect for the rights and feelings of others in the school and elsewhere (Good Manners). Material valuation is emphasized.
